New York, New York – The Borough of Manhattan Community College Esports program continued to impress their second week of NJCAA competition. The second match for the BMCC Rocket League team and Valorant teams followed different scripts as both squads remained undefeated, while their Call of Duty Warzone and Cold War teams were both victorious in their openers.
BMCC Rocket League's Dakarie Downie (Brooklyn, NY), Kevin Martinez (Brooklyn, NY), Jonathan Colvin (New York, NY), and Gamalier Rodriguez (New York, NY) took every shot Monroe C.C. threw at them in a tight 4-3 win on Thursday evening.
Martinez was impressed with his team's resilience despite not playing their best last Thursday. "To be honest, we were lucky to get the win yesterday, and we ended up losing three straight games. We manage to stay composed and not let those losses get into our heads and fought hard to win the last game and ended up with the W. We have a lot of things to work on as we will face much more formidable opponents down the road and that training should help our team to be more fluid."
BMCC will look to carry its momentum into another tough battle against unbeaten Hudson Valley Community College this Thursday at 5 p.m. live on twitch by clicking here.
BMCC's Valorant team Abel Sanchez (Bronx, NY), Christian Vasquez (Brooklyn, NY), Imran Muhammad (Bronx, NY), Julio Lozano (Bronx, NY), Justin Too (New York, NY), Ryan Castro (Bronx, NY), and Umair Irshad (Brooklyn, NY) all put together another dominant performance in a 13-1 defeat of Hinds Community College on Friday evening. They will look to remain unscathed this Friday, February 26th, at 7 p.m. against Dawson Community College.
In their NJCAA debuts, BMCC Call of Duty Warzone took two of three from Union County College last Wednesday, and Cold War blanked the University of South Carolina Sumter 2-0 last Friday. Warzone will look to make it back-to-back victories against Crowder College this Wednesday, February 24th at 7 p.m., and Cold War will look to do the same on Friday, February 26th, against Northern Valley Community College.
Super Smash Brothers Ultimate's (One-on-One) Abel Perez (Bronx, NY) remained undefeated with a forfeit victory against Snow College, and Ivan Minaya (New York, NY) got his first victory of the season, 4-0, over Justin Marrow of Shelton State C.C.
Minaya enjoyed his first live-action and is looking to build on this victory down the road. "I enjoyed my first live-action, and the match was enjoyable. I hope to continue to learn from others and my teammates I play with to improve my game down the road."
All three face off against Ocean County College this Tuesday at 5 p.m. live on twitch by clicking here.
In other (One-on-One) action NBA2K1's Caleb Miller (Brooklyn, NY) got a chance to compete in week two and did not disappoint, winning 2-0, and Jarrett Thomas (Brooklyn, NY) won his opener via forfeit. Miller squares off against Gogebic Community College and Thomas against Pennsylvania Highlands Community College in NBA2K21 action this Thursday, February 25th at 6 p.m.
Abu Sakil (Bronx, NY) dropped his FIFA 21 opener, 2-0, to Westchester Community College. He will seek his first win of the season this Tuesday, February 23rd, against Nassau Community College live on twitch by clicking here.
BMCC's Overwatch team won their opening match after Vincennes University forfeited. They will look for their second consecutive win this Monday, February 22nd, at 5 p.m.
