CHARLOTTE, N.C. – On Friday, The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) announced the All-Academic Team for the 2019-20 season and BMCC men's soccer player Lamarana Diallo (Ziguinchor, Senegal) was named to the NJCAA All-Academic Third Team.
To earn All-Academic accolades, Diallo accumulated a grade-point average of 3.6 or higher for the 2019-20 academic year. Earlier in July, Diallo was also recognized as a CUNYAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Diallo earned a spot on the Dean's list all four semesters at BMCC and received the Scholar Leader Award, which recognizes students who balance their lives inside and outside of the classroom as major leaders on campus while maintaining academic excellence (GPA of 3.5 or higher). He also served in the Student Government as an Association Senator and the President of Association of Students of African Descent.
Diallo played two seasons for the Panthers and won a CUNYAC Conference Championship in 2019 and Regular-Season title in 2018 while posting four career goals and nine career points in 15 career games.
Diallo graduated from BMCC at the end of the Fall 2019 semester with an Associate of Science degree in Mathematics.
Below is a listing of the three NJCAA All-Academic Student-Athlete Awards with the qualifying grade-point average for each honor:
NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA
