New York, New York | NJCAA Region XV announced its 2020 Women's Basketball All-Region Teams and postseason awards for all three divisions on Wednesday, and two members from the Women's Basketball team were honored. Sophomore guard Autum Adams-Edwards (Brooklyn, New York) received Second Team All-Region XV honors, and freshman Shyasia Preston (Far Rockaway, New York) was named to the Region XV All-Sportsmanship team. Adams-Edwards received the first regional honor of her career.
Adams-Edwards was a stalwart this season for the Panther backcourt, leading the team in points per game (12.7), assists (28), and three-pointers made (19). She also ranked third on the squad with 22 steals. Her best performance on the 2019-20 campaign came against Kingsborough, where she dropped a career-high 26 points back on Jan. 14th.
Her 476 career points rank ninth in school history while finishing tied for twelfth in career assists (75) and seventh in program history in career three-pointers made (52). Preston swatted away a team-high eight blocks this season for the Panthers and finished second on the team in rebounds per game (8.9). She also recorded eight double-digit rebound games and three double-doubles, which were good for second on the team, while her 172 total rebounds tied her for 16th in BMCC history with Alexis Hart.
She also teamed up with teammate Lauren Malcolm to become the first Panther players in program history to record 20 points and 20 rebounds in a single game. Her best scoring performance came in a victory over Rockland Community College back on Feb. 8. when she dropped a career-high 20 points.
