New York, New York | The City University of New York Athletic Conference announced the 2019 Community College men's soccer all-star selections, and the BMCC Men's Soccer program had a total of four individuals honored.
Freshman midfielder Seydou Diallo (Brooklyn, New York) was selected by the conference coaches as the CUNYAC Athlete of the Year, marking it the third-straight year that a BMCC player has earned the accolade.Â
In addition to the major award winner Seydou, his brother Djiby Diallo (New York, New York), Michael Konadu (Kwahu, Ghana), and Otto Manuel Sabalza (Brooklyn, New York) were named all named CUNYAC All-Stars. Diallo currently leads the Panthers with 11 goals and 26 points, while his four assists are second. His 11 markers are presently tied for fifth-most in single-season history.
He has twinkled the twine in nine of 13 matches for the Panthers, while recording three multi-goal games on the season, scoring twice against Rockland and CUNYAC foe Kingsborough, and posting a hat-trick in the 2019 CUNYACÂ Community Men's Soccer Championship.
Last Tuesday, he saved his best game for the CUNYAC Championship Match as his seven-point performance (3 G, A) propelled him to being named CUNYAC Championship MVP. Diallo scored two game-tying goals, with the third tying it at 4-4 and the go-ahead tally before halftime. His lone assist of the match on the Panther's first goal also helped get the game knotted up.
Konadu currently leads the Panthers in assists with five and has buried two goals for a total of 11 points in his first season at BMCC. He dished out a season-high two assists against conference opponent Kingsborough back on September 28th, while finding the back of the net twice in the Panthers epic comeback victory against Bronx Community College on the road, earlier in the season.
Dijiby currently is tied for second in goals with five, while his 11 point total is third. Dijiby has recorded two tallies twice this year in the opener against Regional opponent Monroe College and non-conference opponent Rockland. He also provided the tying marker in the Panthers 2-1 overtime road win against Westchester.
Sabalza was a mainstay on the Panther defense, with 11 starts in 13 appearances this season.
