Keener's 30 Points Push BMCC Past Queensborough

New York, NY | The Panthers were looking for their 7th consecutive win on Tuesday night when they took the court to face off against the Queensborough Tigers. After a tightly contested first 10 minutes, the Panthers began to pull away from their CUNYAC opponent, they would end the half on a 28-16 run to enter halftime with a 12 point lead. When the second half began, the Tigers could do nothing but watch as the Panthers hit shot after shot on their way to a 96-62 victory to improve to 6-0 in the region.

George Keener earned player of the game after exploding for 30 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. After showing flashes of his potential in a 29 point performance earlier this season, Keener put on a show for the home crowd last night by going 12-19 from the field, including 6-9 from behind the arc.

Even on his birthday, Terrell Fullerton was the one giving out gifts to his teammates, the freshman guard repeatedly drove into the paint and kicked the ball out to the perimeter shooters to record a team-high 6 assists to go along with his 10 points. The Panthers frontcourt trio of Jericho Cherisma (12 pts, 13 reb, 5 blk), Ashan Adams (9pts, 13 reb) and Moses Mcrae (12 pts, 8 reb) had their best performance of the year as the Panthers nearly doubled the rebounding total of the Tigers.

Up 25 points with time winding down, the Panthers closed the door on the Tigers with excellent play from their bench. Freshmen Lawrence Todman and Vasilios Halkias powered the offense as they combined for 12 points in the final minutes, while Moussa Samassa gave the Tigers' offense nightmares with 4 electrifying blocks and a steal in just six minutes.

After an all-around great performance from the Panthers, they will have some time to rest during the break before playing 4 games on the road. This tough stretch will be a measuring stick for the young Panthers team, but after knocking off two preseason top-10 teams (#6 Nassau, #7 Sullivan County) during their 7-game win streak, BMCC has shown their resiliency with every test given to them thus far this season. If the Panthers do well during this road trip, they will likely be in the national spotlight when the regular season NJCAA Top-10 poll is released in early December. Next up on BMCC's schedule is the Hostos Caimans (2-1 in CUNYAC), who they will face on Tuesday at 8pm in the Bronx.
