Bronx, NY | BMCC's basketball teams travelled uptown on Tuesday evening to take on the Hostos Caimans in a doubleheader. The Lady Panthers brought the game to within 1 point in the fourth quarter, but a late run by the Caimans would result in a 54-64 loss. In the men's game, a second half run by BMCC was not enough to overcome a slow start offensively, and Hostos would escape with a 94-87 victory to snap the Panthers 7-game win streak. With neither team able to come away with a win against their conference rival, both teams move to 2-1 in the CUNY Athletic Conference.
In the opening game, freshman Tiannie Hightower led the Lady Panthers with 14 points, while
Ashley Brooks recorded an impressive 12 points and 17 rebounds. Meanwhile in the men's game, Panthers' guard
Terrell Fullerton played exceptional in the narrow loss, the freshman shot 9-16 from the field to match his season-high of 33 points.
The men's and women's team will look to get back on track in their next game when they take on the LaGuardia Red Hawks in a CUNYAC showdown in Queens. Tuesday's matchup is set to tipoff at 5:30pm.
