Cherisma’s Triple-Double Fuels BMCC Past Dutchess

New York, NY | The Panthers took the court Thursday night looking for their 5th straight win to start the season. BMCC went on a 28-10 run to start the game, and kept their foot on the gas as they went on to win 95-83.

On a night when five Panthers reached double-digit scoring totals, Jericho Cherisma stood out by leading all scorers with 28 points, while dominating on both sides with 22 rebounds and 13 blocks. Following his stellar performance last night, Cherisma now leads the nation with 17.8 rebounds and 6.2 blocks per game.

Head coach Thomas Guerin offered high praise for the Panthers forward after the game: "His performance was the most dominant all-around effort I've ever seen at this level. The fact that he leads the nation in blocks and rebounds is a testament to how hard-working Jerry is, his physical dominance in the paint has been a huge factor into our success this season."
After leading the nation in scoring average for the first five games of the season, Panther's guard Terrell Fullerton showed his versatility as a passer for BMCC, recording a team-high 7 assists to go along with his 21 points. Meanwhile Jason Mejia continues to shoot the lights out for the Panthers, the sophomore guard went 4-7 from behind the arc on his way to 18 points in the game. George Keener played a large role in the Panthers 28-10 run, the freshman guard hit a pair of first half threes to spread out the Falcons defense, creating opportunities for his teammates to drive into the paint. Coming off the bench last night, Ashan Adams made the most of his 22 minutes, going 5-7 for 14 points while grabbing 10 rebounds for the Panthers.

The Panthers will return to action on Saturday when they take on the Nassau Lions in Garden City, NY. Tipoff for the men's game is set for 3pm.
