BMCC Women’s Basketball Finishes 2014-15 Regular Season With Loss at Dutchess

With a 6-15 record, the Lady Panthers can still qualify for the Regional Tournament

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY| The Borough of Manhattan Community College women's basketball team were defeated by Dutchess Community County 76-66 in Poughkeepsie, NY on Monday afternoon in what was their final regular-season contest of the 2014-15 season. BMCC finishes the year with a 6-15 (3-7 CUNYAC) record.

Freshman Kirsten Merrell extended her double-double streak to 14 games (17th of the season) after collecting 30 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals. Merrell averaged 22 points-, 11.3 rebounds-, 4.2 assists- and 3.3 steals-per-game during her rookie campaign.

Alexis Hart went for 16 points and 12 rebounds for her third double-double of the season, and Ashley Duplan shot 4-10 from three and scored 14 points.

Kianna Nicholos potted a team-best 24 points for Dutchess.

BMCC outshot Dutchess 48.9%-44.8% from the floor and also outrebounded the hosts 33-23 despite the loss. Dutchess was better from the free-throw line and held a 84%-53.8% advantage.

The Lady Panthers await their Region XV Tournament fate and should know their status by the end of the week.

The BMCC men will face Hostos Community College in the CUNYAC CC Semifinal on Wednesday, February 18 at 6:00 PM inside BMCC Gym. The final will be played on Friday, February 20 at 8:30 PM, also inside BMCC Gym.
