BMCC Women’s Basketball Drops CUNYAC Finale to Queensborough

The Lady Panthers were eliminated from playoff contention with the loss

BAYSIDE, NY| The Borough of Manhattan Community College women's basketball team were defeated by CUNYAC rival Queensborough Community College 82-56 on Tuesday evening and have been eliminated from conference playoff contention. The Lady Panthers (6-14) finish their conference campaign with a 3-7 record and remain in the regional playoff race.

Freshman standout Kristen Merrell notched her 13^th straight double-double (16^th of the season), scoring 29 points and collecting 16 rebounds, four assists and two steals. Sophomore Alexis Hart scored nine and grabbed eight boards.

Stephanie Pena set or matched career highs in points (6) and rebounds (12) in her first career start. Ashley Duplan also scored six.

BMCC will wrap up their regular season on Monday, February 16 when they travel to Poughkeepsie, NY to play a make-up game with Dutchess Community College at 6:00 PM.

Should the Lady Panthers qualify for the NJCAA Region XV D-III tournament, they will play on Wednesday, February 25 at an undetermined location.
