New York, NY - The Lady Panthers began their 2013 season Friday afternoon at Pier 40 with a game against Region XV opponent Suffolk Community College. The Lady Sharks won the game 4-1.

After a sluggish first 20 minutes where the Lady Panthers fell behind 2-0, they responded with strong defense and midfield play for the final 25 minutes of the first half.

The Lady Sharks got first half goals from #24 Mackenzie Houghton and #11 Amber Petrillo and really tested Lady Panthers keeper Luye Murphy with 10 shots saving them all except for two.

In the second half the Lady Panthers were the aggressive team and were rewarded in the 70' when #4 Chanelle Ranglin sent a beautiful ball forward to Murphy, who switched to forward in the second half, inside the six yard box and Murphy buried it to bring make the score 2-1.

Eight minutes later the Lady Sharks scored again on a great strike by #12 Sarah Blotiau making the score 3-1. Pertillo would close out the scoring for the Lady Sharks in the 90' on a free kick from just outside the penalty area.

The Lady Panthers next play Thursday, September 19th against ASA. The game will be played at Pier 40 and kick-off is scheduled for 12pm.
