BMCC Women’s Soccer Battles Nassau to 3-3 Draw
New York, NY - The BMCC Panthers traveled to Long Island to take on the Lions of Nassau Community College in an exciting back-and-forth matchup that ended in a 3-3 draw. BMCC came out firing, jumping out to an early 2-0 lead behind goals from
Ornela Pedabga (Bronx, New York) and
Jaqueline Barrera (New York, New York). The Lions responded before halftime, scoring twice to even the match at 2-2 heading into the break. The Panthers wasted little time reclaiming the lead after halftime. In the 48th minute,
Afrika Blackman (Queens, New York) found the back of the net to put BMCC ahead 3-2.
Katie Osorio (Bronx, New York) provided the assist on the go-ahead goal. BMCC controlled the majority of the second half and created several opportunities to extend its lead, but the Panthers were unable to find the insurance goal. With just 7 minutes remaining, Nassau scored once again to level the match, making it 3-3. The Panthers nearly found the game-winner late. With six minutes on the clock, sophomore
Emily Pelcastre (Brooklyn, New York) unleashed a powerful shot from just outside the box. The shot beat the Nassau goalkeeper but struck the crossbar, bouncing away and keeping the match tied. Neither team could find the decisive goal in the closing minutes, and the match finished in a 3-3 draw. BMCC showed resilience throughout the match, twice taking the lead and continuing to battle until the final whistle.
With the tie, the Panthers now possess a season record of 1-1-2 overall, 1-0-1 in region.
