New York, N.Y. - The BMCC Lady Panthers took on CUNY rival Kingsborough Community College on Friday afternoon at Pier 40 in New York City. The Lady Panthers prevailed beating the Wave 4-1, clinching a berth in the Region XV playoffs. 

The Lady Panthers took an early 1-0 lead when Lizzett Heras scored on a free kick from just outside the penalty box. Luye Murphy netted one before halftime for a 2-0 Lady Panthers lead.

In the 2nd half Murphy struck again after being set up beautifully by Maria Cacuci. The Wave got one back on a penalty kick to cut the lead to 3-1. Cacuci would score one of her own with 15' remaining to lock up the 4-1 victory.

With the win the Lady Panthers clinched a berth in the Region XV playoffs, which begin October 23. Most likely they will play #8 Suffolk Lady Sharks.

The Lady Panthers return to action next week with two games against Fashion Institute of Technology on Friday October 18 and Sunday October 20.
