Men's Soccer defeated at Suffolk

Men's Soccer | 9/12/2012 8:39:00 PM

Seldon, New York - The Panthers were looking to build off the victory of Queensborough CC last week and start the season with their 2nd consecutive road victory but came up short with a 2-0 defeat on the Selden Campus of Suffolk Community College.

The Panthers came out with strong play but couldn't muster up any points during the first half. Behind the strong first-half play of goalkeeper Irvin Barreto (Morelos, Mexico), the Panthers were able to go into the half tied, 0-0. The Sharks were able to put the first goal of the game on the board following a set-piece goal by Sophomore Darren McCormack in the 55th minute. The Panthers had a chance to immediately tie it up when Sophomore Mohamed Abdo (Brooklyn, NY) was able to draw a foul in the box and was awarded a penalty kick. However, the kick was sent far-right, and the score remained 1-0. The Sharks tacked on a late goal and finished off the game with a 2-0 victory.

The Panthers will look to overcome this defeat when they play their first home game of the season against the Senators of SUNY-Ulster this Saturday, September 15h, at 12:00 p.m. at Pier 40 in Manhattan. For directions to the field, please visit: PIER 40 - HOME OF BMCC SOCCER.
