Kings Point, New York – Shadae King (Queens, New York) and
Lea Reimer (Paderborn, Germany) registered top ten finishes to headline the BMCC women's outdoor track and field team Saturday morning at the Coach Omeltchenko Invitational at the United States Merchant Marine Academy. The Panthers competed in five events in total.
King started the day off strong, posting a personal best time of 15.42 and a sixth-place finish out of 20 runners in the women's 100 meters. Breanna Johnson (Brooklyn, New York) also competed in the 100 meters, crossing the finish line with a time of 17.95.
Reimer made it back-to-back top 10 finishes, crossing the tape with a time of 22:11.80 in the women's 5,000 meters for an eighth-place finish, just 21 seconds short of the NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship qualifying mark of 21:49.98
. Reimer qualified for Nationals in the
women's 10,000 meters in her first meet of the season two weeks ago at the Queensborough Relays with a time of 43:31.47, smashing the qualifying standard of 51:00.58.
Kylah Hetmeyer (Brooklyn, New York) and Maria Godoy Forno De Stein (Guatemala City, Guatemala) both competed in the women's 400-meters. Hetmeyer came in with a time of 1:11.87, and Forno De Stein recorded a personal best of 1:15.99.
An Ling Zhu (Brooklyn, New York) posted a time of 7:06.99 in the women's 1500 meters, while
King, Hetmeyer, Forno De Stein, and Johnson raced in the women's 200 meters. King and Hetmeyer clocked in at times of 31.68 and 32.79, and Forno De Stein and Johnson came in at times of 33.15 and 38.51.
The Women's team will lace it up again in two weeks on Saturday, April 27, at the Lions Outdoor Invitational in Ewing, New Jersey. For more information, visit the
