Bayside, New York - Freshman Lea Reimer (Paderborn, Germany) headlined an outstanding start to their inaugural BMCC women's outdoor track and field, qualifying for Nationals with a time of 43:31.47 in the 10,000 meter run on Sunday morning at the Queensborough Relays hosted by Queensborough Community College. The women's team competed in three events in the meet.
Reimer posted a second-place finish in the women's 10,000 meter, just a minute behind a four-year runner from Hunter College Touka Medjoubi, who finished with a time of 42:10.17 to win the event. Reimer defeated Medjoubi in the women's 3000 meter during the 2024 CUNYAC Indoor Track and Field Championships back in February.
Breanna Johnson (Brooklyn, New York) and Shadae King (Queens, New York) competed in the women's 100-meter dash, finishing 17th and 23rd overall with times of 15.64 and 17.41, respectively. Maria Godoy Forno De Stein (Guatemala City, Guatemala) finished 11th overall in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:30.32.
The Panthers will lace it up again next week on Sunday, April 7, at the Coach Omeltchenko Invitational at the Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York. For more information, visit the BMCC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Schedule.
