Bellerose, New York - The BMCC Baseball team was swept by Monroe-Bronx In Region 15 action 18-1 and 12-2 on Sunday afternoon at Padavan-Preller Complex. The Panthers fell to 2-8 (2-8 Region XV), while the Express improved to 8-14 (6-1 Region XV).

Game 1 – Monroe-Bronx 18, Borough of Manhattan 1
FreshmanÂ
Jose Miguel De Jesus Lebron (Santo Domingo, D.R.)Â led the Panthers with his second multi-hit game of the season and the second in three games this week, with two hits and an RBI single at the top of the third.Â
DeJesus Lebron and classmate Joseph Estrella (Bronx, New York) both had a steal, while sophomoreÂ
Julio Liz (Bronx, NY)Â led the Panthers on defense with four putouts.Â

Monroe-Bronx exploded for 10 runs in the first inning and never looked back, getting an excellent pitching performance from Jayden Moya. Moya went five innings, striking out 12 batters, allowing one run and no walks to pick up the win.

Ethan Pagan (New York, NY)Â threw a career-best 116 pitches, taking the loss and recording two strikeouts for the second time this season.
Game 2 - Monroe-Bronx 12, Borough of Manhattan 2
The Panthers' hits were tough to come by. They recorded five total, with freshmen
Wiljer Casana (Miami, Florida),
Nassaiah Flores (Bronx, NY),
Jariel Irizarry (New York, NY),
Isaiah Jerry (Brooklyn, NY), and sophomore
Julio Liz (Bronx, NY) all recording one.

Jerry led the Panthers on the basepaths with a season-high three steals. He joined sophomore Peter Marino (New York, New York), who also had a steal in the game. The Panthers scored only two runs in the top of the fifth, as both their steals triggered throwing errors, scoring them both.Â
Casana also had a steal for the fourth straight game.
Freshman
Joseph Estrella (Bronx, New York) took the loss, going 4.2 innings and allowing 12 runs (six earned) on eight hits with five walks and two strikeouts. Estrella threw 106 pitches in the contest.
The Express got four runs in the top of the first with RBIs from C. Rodriguez and Y. Torres, a two-run single by E. Sanchez, and an RBI double from G. Flores before E. Sanchez scored on a fielding error by
 Peter Rodriguez Reyes (Bronx, New York). The Express picked up two more runs in the bottom of the third to make it 6-0 after three. The Panthers used walks from
 Jerry and Marino to get their first two runs in the top of the fifth to cut the deficit to 6-2. Jerry stole second and third after drawing a one-out walk, and Marino stole second with both coming across on throwing errors for the Panther's only two runs. The Express put it away with six runs in the bottom of the inning to win 12-2.

Jacob Cotto went five innings, grabbing his first victory of the season, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out eight batters.
