New York, New York - The BMCC women's volleyball team fell in straight sets to Queensborough Community College (17-25, 13-25, 14-25) at home on Tuesday evening at BMCC Gymnasium. The Panthers drop to 6-6 (4-6 Region XV) while the Tigers improve to 9-3 (7-2 Region XV).
Freshman Jaylynn Mateo (Brooklyn, New York) was the Panther's top swinger and defensive leader on the night, uncorking a team-high eight kills and fielding a team-best 12 digs. Classmate Kavana Liburd (Queens, New York) handed out a team-best 10 assists.Â
Liburd became the sixth player in school history to register 200 assists in a single season and the seventh player to do it all-time with a team-best 209 assists currently.
Sophomore Emmanuella Aurel (Port Au Prince, Haiti) and freshman Andrea Perez-Guzman (Brooklyn, New York) both posted a solo block each, and Aurel chipped in with six digs defensively.
Melanie Chuu posted a double-double for Queensborough Community College, smashing a game-high 10 kills and fielding 14 digs. Olivia Olchawa contributed on offense with nine kills of her own, while Isabel Torres distributed a game-high 26 assists, and Nicole Gadaev posted a match-best four service aces. Cynthia Saravia Reyes recorded a game-high 27 digs for the Tigers on defense.
