New York, New York – On Saturday afternoon, the BMCC women's basketball team lost in CUNYAC action 81-47 to Kingsborough Community College on the road in Brooklyn, New York. The loss drops the Panthers to 3-9 (3-4 CUNYAC), while the Wave improved to 10-1 (6-0 CUNYAC) with the victory.
Sophomore Emily Kennedy (Brooklyn, New York) led the offensive effort for the Panthers with her second straight and team-best sixth 20-point game with a team-high 22 points and missing a ninth straight double-double by one rebound with nine while snatching a team-best six steals and blasting away a team-high three blocks. Kennedy now has 12 career 20-point games after Saturday afternoon for her career.
Freshman Mariah Wigfall (New York, New York) led the Panthers on the glass, equaling a career-best with 10 rebounds, and classmate Sheliyah Jackson (Bronx, New York) dished out a team-high three assists.
Kingsborough Community College raced out to an 11-2 first-quarter lead, connecting on a jumper at 4:34 before the Panthers cut the lead down to four, 11-7 at 2:59 on a three-point play from Kennedy. The Wave scored the final five points in the period to lead 16-7 after one.
Kingsborough scored six of the first nine points of the second quarter to lead by 12, 22-10 at 7:15 before the BMCC rolled off 10 of the following 14 points to get within six, 26-20 at 2:43 on a Kennedy field goal. The Wave would then never let the Panthers get any closer, scoring four of the final six points to take a 30-22 lead into the halftime break and cruise the entire second half en route to an 81-47 win.
The Panthers return home in Region play on Tuesday, January 16, at 5 p.m. against defending 2023 Region 15 Champion Monroe-Bronx at BMCC Gymnasium. For more information, visit the

Kennedy is fifth all-time in career steals with 106 and the fifth in program history to snatch 100 plus steals for her career.
- Kennedy also moved into a tie for seventh all-time in career points with 493 with Aiyana Harris and alone into eighth all-time with 92 career assists, passing Chanel Wray's total of 91 career assists from 2000-2001.
- Kennedy also is 12th all-time in school history with 225 career rebounds, passing LaToya Steele's 224 career rebounds from 2002-2004.
