Alghanimi, Fertitta-Boutis, and Filippi Post Hat Tricks As Men’s Soccer Rolls At Home Over LaGuardia C.C.

New York, New York – The BMCC men's soccer team's red-hot offense continued on Thursday afternoon, exploding for 13 first-half goals en route to a dominant 13-0 victory over CUNYAC opponent LaGuardia Community College at Pier 40. The Panthers remain perfect at 3-0 (1-0 CUNYAC) with the win, while the Red Hawks fall to 0-3 (0-1 CUNYAC) with the loss.

The Panther's offensive output was their biggest in 12 years as they scored double-digit goals for the first time since 2019, with their 13 markers being the biggest output since the 11 goals they scored previously against Orange County Community College on September 28, 2011.

The Panthers wasted no time jumping all over the Red Hawks as freshman John Guzman (Brooklyn, New York) sent a gorgeous cross onto the left foot of sophomore Mohammed Alghanimi (Brooklyn, New York) in the first minute to give BMCC a 1-0 lead. The Panthers struck three minutes later when sophomore Ademola Opesanwo (Lagos, Nigeria) was taken down in the penalty box, awarding BMCC a penalty kick. Freshman As Mouhamadou Ndiaye (Brooklyn, New York) cashed in, burying a penalty kick to make it 2-0, then Opesanwo struck in the sixth minute to make it 3-0. Alghanimi struck two more times for this first career hat trick in the 12th and 16th minute from freshman Adrian Herold (Brooklyn, New York) and Abdoulaye Diawara to make it 5-0.

Alghanimi wasn't the only one recording a sombrero on the afternoon as freshmen Kosmas Fertitta-Boutis (Wilmington, North Carolina) and Niklas Filippi (New York, New York) also netted three goals apiece. Fertitta-Boutis registered two of his three goals on penalty kicks, with the first coming in the 20th minute to stretch the lead to 6-0, then he fed one to the far left post, where Filippi tapped it in to make it 7-0 in the 24th minute. Filippi the second marker on the afternoon seven minutes later from Opesanwo in the 31st minute to make it 8-0 then sophomore Bodrul Alam (Oreland, PA) found the back of the cage from freshman Mamadou Diallo (Conakry, Guinea) in the 34th minute to increase the lead to 9-0. Fertitta-Boutis grabbed his second from Diallo to help the Panthers reach double digits in the 36th minute to make it 10-0.

Filippi completed his hat trick in the 37th minute to make it 11-0, then Diallo twinkled the twine for his first of the day from Fertitta-Boutis to make it 12-0. Fertitta-Boutis capped off his first career hat trick in the 43rd minute, concluding the scoring to give the Panthers a 13-0 victory.

BMCC outshot LaGuardia 20-2 on the day, including 18-1 in the first half, and have now outscored their opponents 20-0 and outshot their opponents 76-10 in all three victories.

Sophomore Abdul Mumin Seidu (Bronx, New York) got his second victory of the season for the Panthers, playing the first half, while freshman Yahir Ramirez (Brooklyn, New York) made one stop on the day. Steven Romero made a game-best four stops for the Red Hawks, taking the loss.

BMCC will look to stay undefeated on the season in CUNYAC play in a rematch of last year's 2022 CUNYAC Community College Championship game against Queensborough Community College on Tuesday, September 19, at 4 p.m. in Bayside, New York. For more information, visit the BMCC Men's Soccer Schedule.
