New York, New York – Former BMCC women's basketball player Alicia Tomby (Berbice, Guyana) will continue her collegiate career where it all began. Tomby committed to Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, New York, where she will continue her basketball career and education. Medgar Evers is an NCAA Division III program member of The City of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC).
Tomby was a key role player for BMCC making 25 career starts, including a season-high 21 starts during the 2022-23 season. The Berbice, Guyana native was one of BMCC's most improved players as the Panthers women's basketball program returned to a full 18-game regular season schedule registering career-bests in points (76), rebounds (69), steals (21), and assists (20).
Tomby's best scoring performance on the season came in the 2023 CUNYAC Community College Championship game against 10-time Conference Champion Hostos, with a career-high nine points. She also recorded two or more steals in four contests, including a career-best four steals twice at home against Laguardia Community College on January 24, 2023, and the road against Queensborough Community College on January 31, 2023, to clinch the second seed in the 2023 CUNYAC Championship. She concludes her career at BMCC with 90 career points, 85 career rebounds, 26 career assists, and 24 career steals in 25 career games.
