New York, New York – After leading the BMCC men's basketball team to back-to-back victories, sophomore guard Jeremiah Cardi (New York, New York) earned the CUNYAC CC Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors, and freshman Demaris Andrews (Bayonne, New Jersey) was recognized as the Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. Cardi picks up Player of the Week accolades for the second time in his career after getting recognized in Week one of the 2021-22 season.

Cardi has turned it on during BMCC's two-game winning streak with dominant road wins against PCCC 80-60 before Thanksgiving and last Tuesday against CUNYAC opponent Kingsborough C.C. 74-58. The New York, New York native, led all scorers against the Wave with a team-high 18 points while grabbing seven rebounds and chipping in with two assists and steals.

The 6'0 guard was one of three Panthers to score in double figures and helped them reach 70 or more points for the second consecutive game.

He currently leads the Panthers from the charity stripe with a team-best 24 free throws made and 31 free throws attempted to go along with a 77.4% free throw shooting percentage which is also tops on the team. Cardi has also dished out a team-high 19 assists while also being second in scoring with 12.4 points per game and third with 10 steals and 27 rebounds.

During a tough see-saw battle on the road against Kingsborough Community College last Tuesday night, Andrews continued to be the Panther's go-to player. Andrews registered her team-best third 20-point scoring effort with 25 points in addition to tying for a team-best with seven rebounds during their tough 56-51 loss to Kingsborough C.C.

Andrews leads the Panthers with six double-figure scoring efforts in seven games this season, including back-to-back double-digit scoring games in the last two weeks. The Bayonne, New Jersey native leads the Panthers in two offensive and defensive categories as tops in scoring average (18.1 PPG) and points (127), and Assists (10) while also leading the team in total rebounds (55), rebounding average (7.9 RPG), and steals (15).

Both teams hit the hardwood tomorrow night in a CUNYAC doubleheader against Bronx Community College at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at BMCC Gymnasium. For more information, visit the Men's Basketball and Women's Basketball Schedule Page.
