Weekend Recap: BMCC sweeps Dutchess in men’s, women’s basketball

Poughkeepsie, NY | The Panthers and Lady Panthers traveled to Dutchess Community College on Saturday morning to take on the Falcons in a Region 15 doubleheader. The men's team had their sights set on their 11th straight win to open the season, while the BMCC women's team was trying to snap a 5-game losing skid. Both teams would come away with a victory as the Lady Panthers cruised to a 69-50 win while the men's team came out on top 103-95.

The Lady Panthers started off the doubleheader with a 19 point win over the Falcons to bring their regional record to 2-3 this season. The freshman duo of Awa Fall and Autum Adams-Edwards combined for 34 points to lead BMCC to their highest scoring output of the season. Sophomore Ayanna Graham finished the game with 8 points by going an efficient 4 for 6 from the field. Lauren Malcolm provided a spark off the bench with 7 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, including 8 offensive boards.

Picking up right where the women's team left off, the Panthers came away with an 8 point victory to remain undefeated. Terrell Fullerton powered the offense with 29 points and 4 assists, the sophomore point guard now ranks 8th in the nation in scoring average and 2nd in assists. Quran Dublin also ranks among the top-20 nationally in points per game, the Panthers shooting guard recorded 21 points against the Falcons. Viktor Kovacevic had a huge performance with 20 points to go along with 5 boards. After hitting 5 threes, Alex Humphreys would go on to finish the game with 16 points.

Following the string of 11 wins, the Panthers will await the announcement of the first NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball Rankings of the regular season to see how they stack up against the top teams in the country.

The men's and women's basketball teams will have some time off before returning to action on Tuesday, December 11th when they will take on the Bronx Broncos.
