New York, NY | The men's basketball team opened up their season with 3 games in 4 days, after taking care of business against the ASA Avengers on Thursday, the Panthers turned their attention toward their opponents at the 2018 BMCC Tip Off Classic. BMCC opened up the tournament on Saturday with a 105-86 win over the Jefferson Cannoneers, on Sunday the Panthers followed up with an 80-66 victory against the RCBC Barons.
In the two games this weekend the Panthers showed their versatility, against Jefferson, the BMCC exploded on offense, shooting 53.6% from the field on the way to 105 points. Then the defense held strong on Sunday, limiting the Rowan College of Burlington County to 24-for-66 from the field for 66 points while forcing 15 turnovers.
Against the Cannoneers, the Panthers were led on offense by
Quran Dublin and
Terrell Fullerton, the backcourt duo combined for 46 points while shooting a blazing 66.7% from behind the arc.
Viktor Kovacevic made the most of his limited opportunities by going 6-for-7 from the field on his way to 16 points, while sophomore
Alex Humphreys added on with 15 points.
Raybon Fleming neared a double-double with 8 points and 9 rebounds.
In the second game of the BMCC Tip Off Classic, Panthers forward
Ashan Adams took control of the game. After scoring 9 of the first 11 points for BMCC, the sophomore would go on to finish with 24 points, 14 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Fullerton had another dominant performance, recording 22 points and 6 boards.
The Panthers will look to continue their hot start to the season on Tuesday when they take on the Kingsborough Wave in the first CUNYAC game of the season. Tip off is set for 7:45 pm in BMCC gymnasium.
