Panthers remain undefeated with rout of top-ranked Brookdale

New York, NY | The BMCC Panthers matched up against the #1 team in the NJCAA Preseason Men's Basketball Rankings on Thursday night, looking to extend their win streak to five games. Led by the backcourt duo of Terrell Fullerton and Quran Dublin, the Panthers offense ignited for a season-high in scoring in the 115-95 victory over the Brookdale Jersey Blues.

In the first half the score remained close as the two teams' dynamic offenses took turns going on scoring runs. BMCC would stretch the lead to as high as 10 points in the first half and entered halftime leading 58-52. The Brookdale offense came out firing in the second half and quickly tied the score was at 65-65 but the Panthers would answer with a 9 point run. BMCC pushed the lead to double-digits and then began controlling the tempo. Down the stretch, Fullerton went a perfect 8 for 8 from the free throw line while the Panthers defense held firm allowing just one point in the final four minutes.

A 2016-17 All-American, Fullerton had a career-best performance against the Jersey Blues with 42 points and 17 assists. Dublin, the reigning 2018 CUNYAC Player of the Year also reached a career-high in scoring, by going 13 for 19 from the field including 8 three-pointers on his way to 37 points.

While the top-ranked team in the nation did not have an answer for the Panthers guards, the BMCC frontcourt comprised of Viktor Kovacevic and Ashan Adams were dominant as they both recorded a double-double in points and rebounds. After sinking a three-pointer in the final minutes to seal the victory, Alex Humphreys finished the game with 9 points.

Following the fifth double-digit win of the season, the Panthers will return to action on Monday when they travel to Sewell, NJ to take on the Rowan College of Gloucester County. Tip-off is set for 8 pm.
