BMCC Women’s Basketball’s Season Comes to End After Playoff Loss to Nassau

The Lady Panthers lost 96-61 in the Region XV Quarterfinal

GARDEN CITY, NY| The Borough of Manhattan Community College women's basketball team saw its 2104-15 season come to an end after a Tuesday night loss to Nassau Community College in the NJCAA Region XV D-III quarterfinal round in Garden City, NY. The Lady Panthers, who were defeated 96-61, finish the season with 6-16 (3-7 CUNYAC) record.

CUNYAC Community College Women's Rookie of the Year Kristen Merrell scored 24 points and added 15 rebounds, six assists and four steals in the loss. The Staten Island native finished her freshman campaign on a 15-game double-double streak and recorded 18 in total in 22 games this season.

Forward Alexis Hart shot 5-8 from the floor and scored 11 points, and guard Mildhreen Cacoque went for eight points and six assists.

BMCC finished the year eighth in the region and fifth in the conference.

The BMCC men will travel Suffolk County Community College in Selden, NY to take part in the NJCAA Region XV D-III tournament this weekend. Their quarterfinal match against Rockland Community College will take place on Friday, February 27 at 5:00 PM.
