New York, NY Â |Â The Panthers rallied back from a 12 point deficit in the second half two draw within 2 points in the final 30 seconds. In the end the Red Hawks would hold on to a narrow lead to steal a 80-72 victory at BMCC.
Nine straight points from
Brandon Williams brought the score to 54-48 with 9:14 remaining in the second half. The Panthers kept it close for the remainder of the half, with a pair of free throws from
Joshua Armstrong bringing them within 2 at the :24 second mark. A few missed shots from the Panthers and smart ball control from the Red Hawks sealed the game for LaGuardia.
Williams led all scorers with 19 points, Armstrong and
Matthew Boyd each finished the game with 13, while
Kenneth Coar racked up 12 rebounds.
The Panthers return to action on Saturday at 2 PM when they face off against the Bronx Broncos in a CUNYAC Final rematch.
