New York, NY Â |Â After sweeping the Dutchess Falcons in straight sets, BMCC Volleyball fell to the Ulster County Senators in a 5-set thriller.
Kayshawna Richardson's play was nothing short of remarkable today, the standout freshman recorded 28 kills while keeping her team in the game with 10 blocks and 13 digs.
The service game played a key role in the first match against Dutchess, the Panthers combined for 20 aces in just three sets, including 6 from captain
Jennifer Santos. The Falcons managed to keep up with the attacking offense of BMCC for the first two sets, before falling 25-9 in the final set.
Richardson dominance in the second match kept the Panthers even with one of the top teams in the region. The Panthers showed resiliency as they bounced back from an ugly 16-25 first set loss with a 25-22 win the second set. The next 3 sets were kept close as neither team could pull away and the Panthers were able to push the match to a fifth set tiebreaker. Facing a 14-9 set point, the women's team fought back to a 1 point deficit before eventually dropping the set.
Kaina Bazard was all over the floor on offense, setting her teammates up with a season-high 30 assists.
The Lady Panthers look to rebound from the heartbreaking loss when they return to action next Saturday when they square off against Westchester and Rockland in Suffern, NY. The doubleheader action will begin at 12 PM.
