The BMCC Lady Panthers squared off against the Kingsborough Wave in the 2012 CUNY Championship game played at Queensborough Community College on February 17^th, 2012.  The Lady Panthers were coming off an impressive 17-point second half deficit comeback win over the #1 seeded and host Queensborough Lady Tigers, while the Kingsborough Wave entered the game after a decisive victory over the Hostos Lady Caimans.

    The Lady Panthers got off to a fast start leading by a score of 11-7 six minutes into the game.  The Wave answered with a 10-0 run over the next 2 minutes to give the Wave a 6 point lead, which was immediately answered by the Lady Panthers with a 10-0 run of their own and an eventual 21-20 lead with under 7 minutes left in the first half.  The Kingsborough Wave finished the half strong and took a 36-27 lead into the half.  Deana Fleary and Aiyana Harris paced the Panthers in scoring during the first half with 8 points and 7 points respectively. 

    The Lady Panthers fought valiantly in the second half cutting the lead down to as close as 2 points, 55-53, with two minutes remaining on the clock.  However, the comeback effort came up a little short in the end and the Kingsborough Wave iced the game with free throws down the stretch eventually winning by a score of 62-53.  Although the Lady Panthers were not able to secure the Championship, with a roster filled primarily of freshman they have the foundation to build upon for next season.
