Lady Panthers Defeat Sullivan in OT!

Box Score
The Lady Panthers came into today's matchup vs. the Generals of Sullivan County Community College looking to improve their record 2-0 following a season opening victory against Bergen CC earlier this week.  BMCC was paced in the first half by the 10 points of Luye Murphy(Freshman, Brooklyn, NY), 5 rebounds for Gabrielle Alleyne(Sophomore, Brooklyn, NY) and Elesha Dieudonne(Freshman, Brooklyn, NY) and 3 assists from Aiyana Harris(Sophomore, Brooklyn, NY).  Defensively in the first half, the Panthers only allowed Sullivan County CC to register 3 offensive rebounds and 8 assists while forcing 13 turnovers.  The Panthers entered the half trailing 29-26 knowing that if they could right the ship offensively a victory was in reach.  The Generals came out of the locker room strong as they were able to push their halftime lead of 3 points up to 11 with 16 minutes remaining in the game.  However, the Panthers did not give up and in the second half we saw the veteran leadership of Aiyana Harris step to the forefront as she was able to score 12 of her team high 18 points in the second half eventaully giving the Panthers a 54-51 lead with 47.4 seconds remaining in regulation.  After a quick bucket by Sullivan the Panthers knocked down 1 of 2 free throws pushing the lead back up to two points by a score of 55-53.  Sullivan once again answered with a quick bucket tying the game up at 55 a piece and after a turnover from BMCC the Generals throw up a last second shot that was well off and the game headed into overtime.  In the extra time, the Panthers enforced their will on the Generals, outscoring them 11-5, and getting key buckets from Emani Odom(Freshman, New York, NY) in route to a 66-60 overtime victory.

With the victory, the Panthers improve to (2-0 overall, 0-0 conference) and will next play on Tuesday, November 27th at 5:30pm on their homecourt in their 1st CUNYAC match of the season against the Tigers of Queensborough Community College.
