New York, New York – Clovens Loussaint's (Brooklyn, New York) hat trick powered the BMCC men's soccer team to a dominant 7-1 victory over Bronx Community College in their home opener on Tuesday afternoon at Pier 40 in New York, New York.
The Panthers improved to 1-1 (1-1 Region XV), while the Broncos dropped to 1-1 (1-1 Region XV).
Loussaint is the second straight Panther to record a multi-goal game in their home opener after 2023 CUNYAC Rookie of the Year Mamadou Diallo (Conakry, Guinea) buried two last season during a 5-0 victory over Rockland Community College. The Brooklyn, New York native also added a team-high two helpers and posted an eight-point afternoon, making it back-to-back seasons that a Panther player has hit that mark after Kosmas Fertitta-Boutis (Wilmington, North Carolina) and Niklas Filippi (New York, New York) did it against Laguardia Community College and Bronx Community College last year.
The Panthers didn't take long to get to work offensively, as
Loussaint took a Nikola Ivkovic (Belgrade, Serbia) feed down the left wing and chipped it into the low right pocket to open the scoring in the first minute, then struck again in the third on a breakaway ballooning another beautiful chip shot over the head of Bronx Community College goalkeeper Edwin Martinez off an
Idrissa Sanogo (Cote D'Ivoire, Ivory Coast) pass and into the right pocket of the net to make it 2-0 Panthers.
Loussaint showed off his passing prowess in the 24th minute, boomeranging a beautiful cross onto the left foot of Salim Anas (Bronx, New York) to make it 3-0 going into halftime.
The Panthers outshot the Broncos 16-1 in the first half and 26-7 overall in the contest.
Ashraf Abubakar would finally get Bronx Community College on the scoreboard in the 56th minute to cut the deficit to two, 3-1 before the Panthers poured on four straight markers to run away with the contest.
Brandon Leon (New York, New York) took an excellent feed from
Loussaint and finished it in the back of the net for his first goal of the season in the 64th minute before Sebastien George (Brooklyn, New York) and
Loussaint added two tallies two minutes apart in the 74th and 76th minute to make it 6-1. Anderson Alfaro (Bronx, New York) tapped home a goalkeeper misplay in the 81st minute to close out the scoring run and give the Panthers a 7-1 victory.
El Momar Coundoul (Bronx, New York) picked up his first victory of the season for the Panthers, stopping two shots, while Martinez took the loss for the Broncos, making a game-high four saves.
The Panthers will look to make it back-to-back victories two days from now on Thursday, September 12, at 12:30 p.m. in Region 15 action against LaGuardia Community College at Pier 40. For more information, visit the
