Selden, New York - The BMCC men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw in Region 15 action on the road against Suffolk County Community College on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers' record moves to 6-3-1 (6-3-1 Region XV), while the Sharks record goes to 6-2-3 (5-1-1 Region XV).
The Panthers got on the board early as freshman Brandon Leon (New York, New York) buried his third marker of the season on a feed from sophomore Idrissa Sanogo (Cote D'Ivoire, Ivory Coast) in the eighth minute to give them the 1-0 lead. The fifth assist tied Sanogo for the team lead. The Sharks would fight back as Batuhan Yildiz grabbed the equalizer in the 39th minute from Aidan Augeri to tie it at one going into the halftime break.
Both teams had chances in the second half, but neither was able to score the go-ahead goal as the match ended in a 1-1 tie after 90 minutes.
Freshman El Momar Coundoul (Bronx, New York) made four stops on the afternoon for the Panthers and Kelvin Santamaria gobbled up a game-high five saves for the Sharks.
The Panthers will look to extend their unbeaten streak to four games as they travel to Middletown, New York, on Tuesday, October 8, at 4:00 p.m. to take on Orange County Community College in Region 15 action. For more information, visit the BMCC Men's Soccer Schedule.
