New York, New York – The BMCC women's volleyball team dropped a non-conference road matchup against Raritan Valley Community College in straight sets on Thursday evening in North Branch, New Jersey. The loss drops the Panthers to 1-4, while the Lions improve to 12-2 with the victory.
Freshman
Sarah Sellami (Queens, New York) led the Panther's offense on the evening, smashing a team-best six kills. Freshman
Silvia Chen (New York, New York) and sophomore Garyana Altidor (Queens, New York) both placed a team-best three service aces each, with Chen also dishing out a team-high 12 assists.

Cheyenne Gray-Taitt (Harlem, New York) corralled 10 digs of her own. Freshman
Keyanna Irving (Queens, New York) had one solo block.
After two errors helped the Panthers jump out to an early 2-0 lead in the first set, Raritan Valley went on a 16-1 run to take a 16-3 lead and cruise in the opening set to a 25-7 victory.
Both teams would exchange the first four points in the second set, and then the Lions would go on a 7-2 run and rolled to a 25-14 victory.
The Panthers would go down 5-1, then go on a 9-4 run to take a 10-9 lead on a Sellami service ace. The third set would be tied four more times, but after it was deadlocked at 15, the Lions would take control, winning the third set 25-19 and taking the match in straight sets.
Danna Gaitan led the Raritan Valley offense with a game-high seven kills, while Kelly Delaney posted a double-double with a game-best 10 service aces and a team-best 10 digs while Reagan Mooney dished out a game-best 15 assists.
The Panthers will look to get back to their winning ways as they head on the road for their second CUNYAC double dual of the season against Kingsborough Community College and Queensborough Community College at 12 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, in Brooklyn, New York.
