BMCC Women's Volleyball Triumphs Over Kingsborough In Four Sets, Splits CUNYAC Double Dual

New York, New York – The BMCC women's volleyball team picked up their second victory of the season in four sets, 25-21, 22-25, 25-17, 25-22 over Kingsborough Community College, then fell in straight sets to Queensborough Community College splitting their second CUNYAC Double Dual on Saturday afternoon in Brooklyn, New York. The Panthers record stands at 2-5 (2-2 CUNYAC) on the season. 
 
The Panthers got a balanced effort on offense in the first match led by freshman Sarah Sellami (Queens, New York), who unloaded a team-best five kills, while classmate Keyanna Irving (Queens, New York) registered four and Andrea Richino (New York, New York) had three. Sophomore Cheyenne Gray-Taitt (Harlem, New York) and freshman Silvia Chen (New York, New York) had two kills, while also handing out a career and game-high 32 assists. 
 
Sophomore Garyana Altidor (Queens, New York) placed a team-best three service aces, while SellamiGray-Taitt, and Irving had a solo block.  
 
Sophomore Cheyenne Gray-Taitt (Harlem, New York) led all hitters with five kills in the second match, while freshman Keyanna Irving (Queens, New York) had three kills. Classmate Silvia Chen (New York, New York) dished out a game-high 26 assists while sophomore Garyana Altidor (Queens, New York) and freshman Sarah Sellami (Queens, New York) recorded a service ace. 
 
Gray-Taitt led the way on defense with a team-best two blocks, and Richino also had a solo block of her own.

Noarie Proverbs spearheaded the Kingsborough Community College offense with a game-high 11 kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Aneesa Leka dished out a team-high 12 assists and tied for another in service aces with Kyrah Allison with five. Victoria Cook led the Wave defense with 12 digs and two solo blocks.

Michelle Liu led Queensborough Community College on offense with a game-high nine kills, while Isabel Torres dished out a team-best 18 assists, and Luey June Namoc had a game-high five service aces. Cynthia Saravia Reye led the Tigers on defense with a game-best 14 digs.

The Panthers will battle for second place in the CUNYAC against Hostos Community College on the road on Thursday, September 28 at 7 p.m. at the Swamp in Bronx, New York. For more information, please visit the BMCC Women's Volleyball Schedule Page.
