BMCC Baseball Defeated In Region 15 Doubleheader To Suffolk Community College On The Road

Selden, New York – The BMCC Baseball dropped both contests in their fourth doubleheader of the season to Region 15 foe Suffolk Community College 12-0 and 12-2 on Saturday afternoon in Selden, New York. 17-6 in Region 15 competition at Padavan-Preller Complex on Friday afternoon. The Shark's sixth straight victory improves their record to 11-7 (10-2 Region XV), while the loss drops the Panthers to 2-14 (2-12 Region XV).
 
Game 1 – Suffolk Community College 12, Borough of Manhattan 0
Suffolk Community College got their bats going from the opening pitch, putting up three runs in the first four innings to build a 12-0 lead. Sophomore Luke Herron stifled the Panther's offense for his second victory of the season, holding them to just two hits, pitching four and third innings of scoreless baseball with six strikeouts and no walks. Herron helped close BMCC out in the fifth inning retiring three of the final four batters and leading Suffolk to a 12-0 win.

Sophomores Abdel Raheem Dolah (Brooklyn, New York) and Gerardo Galan Berihuete (Brooklyn, New York) led the Panther's offense with one hit apiece.
 
Freshman Nicholas Mattera (Moorpark, California) took the loss for the Panthers going one inning, allowing three runs on two hits, striking out one, and walking zero. Dolah pitched three innings in relief, allowing nine runs on three hits with one strikeout and five walks.

Sophomore Maxwell Jimenez (Dominican Republic) and freshman Jeffrey Roldan (New York, New York) led the Panthers on defense with three putouts each.

Game 2 – Suffolk Community College 12, Borough of Manhattan 2
The Panther offense rebounded in the top of the first of the second game with a two-run inning to take the lead 2-0. Freshman Jeffrey Roldan (New York, New York) and sophomore Abdel Raheem Dolah (Brooklyn, New York) got aboard with one out when a pitch hit Roldan, and Dolah was walked before sophomore Maxwell Jimenez (Dominican Republic) popped an RBI single to left field to make it 1-0. Freshman Luis Ramirez (Brooklyn, New York) sacrificed to the pitcher to drive in Dolah to make it 2-0 going into the bottom of the inning. Suffolk responded with runs in the next two innings to tie it at two, then scored 10 straight runs after with three in the bottom of the third, two in the bottom of the fourth, and their biggest inning to clinch it in the bottom of the fifth to take it 12-2.
 
Freshmen Nicholas Mattera (Moorpark, California) and Roldan and sophomores Jimenez and Dolah all had one hit apiece in the game, while Jimenez and Ramirez drove in one run apiece.
 
Dominic LaFroscia picked up his second win of the season, bouncing back after allowing two first-inning runs keeping the Panthers scoreless for the final four of them, allowing four hits total and striking out six. Freshman Conall Moore (New York, New York) tossed his second straight 100-pitch game with a career-best 112 pitches in the loss, going four and a third innings, allowing 12 runs on five hits and striking out one.
 
Mattera led the Panthers in the field with a team-high four putouts.
