Garden City, New York – The BMCC men's soccer team dropped a Region 15 road contest to Nassau Community College 2-0 on Tuesday evening in Garden City, New York. The victory improves the Lions to 7-2 (7-0 Region XV) while the Panthers fall to 2-4 (2-4 Region XV).
Nassau Community College controlled the possession throughout the match, providing few opportunities for BMCC to threaten on offense. The Panther's best chance of the first half came in the 12th minute from Ademola Opesanwo (Bronx, New York), who got a beautiful feed off a through ball with a golden opportunity but cranked a shot over the net from point blank range. The Lions finally got on the board in the 35th minute when Nikolas Vidal dribbled into the penalty area and blasted a right-footed shot from inside the 18 to make it 1-0.
Freshman Abdul Mumin Seidu (Bronx, New York), who stopped a career-high 12 shots, played a crucial role in keeping it a one-goal game going into halftime, making six of them in the first half. He made one of those six two minutes after allowing the game's opening goal, denying Vidal his second of the match in the 37th minute, going post to post to stop his left-footed sizzler. Nassau Community College outshot BMCC 10-3, including a 7-0 edge in shots on goal leading 1-0 at the halftime break.
The Lions continued to control the possession for the entire second half outshooting the Panthers 18-2 and 28-5 overall in the match. Nassau Community College tacked on an insurance goal in the 61st minute when Vidal headed a boomerang feed from Benton Cueto from inside the 18 in to make it 2-0 and lead the Lions to victory.
Jonathan Villacis picked up his third clean sheet of the season and his sixth win, while Seidu took the loss.
The Panthers will look to return to their win column on the road Saturday, October 1, against CUNYAC opponent Kingsborough Community College at 2 p.m. in Brooklyn, New York. For more information, visit the BMCC Men's Soccer Schedule.
