BMCC Baseball Falls To Nassau C.C. At Home, Lions Pitcher Nick Kozerski Pitches Perfect Game

Queens, New York – Nassau Community College freshman pitcher Nick Kozerski tossed a perfect game as the Lions defeated the BMCC Baseball team 16-0 in five innings in Region 15 action at Padavan-Preller Complex. The Panthers drop to 0-14 (0-14 Region 15) while the Lions picked up their third straight victory to improve to 11-8 (10-7 Region 15).

Kozerski authored a masterful pitching performance and retired all 15 batters he faced, striking out nine on 55 pitches for his second victory of the season.

Nassau got right to work on offense as Sampogna forced a lead-off walk and stole two bases before scoring on an error by Adrian Beckles (Bronx, New York) on a Strang fly ball to make it 1-0 Lions. Strang would steal second and third as Anthony Lamar would drive him on a groundout to make it 2-0.

The Lions would break it open the next two innings with five runs in the top of the second and three in the top of the third to extend their lead to 10-0. Michael Perhauz connected on an RBI single, and Sampogna ripped a two-run single to stretch the lead to 5-0 before Strang ripped an RBI single and Lamar picked up his second RBI of the day on a groundout to make it 8-0 going into the bottom of the second. Sampogna would register his game-high fifth RBI after going yard to left field with a three-run jack to make it 10-0.

Nassau added six more runs in the top of the fifth and before Kozerski shut the door by striking out two of the last three Panther batters for a 16-0 victory.

Freshman Keijiro Fujiwara (Redington, Florida) got the start for the Panthers, lasting four and a third innings allowing 14 hits and 16 runs while striking out one. Underclassman Alexander Miranda (Brooklyn, New York) threw two-thirds of an inning coming out of the bullpen striking out two of the three batters he faced.

The Panthers head on the road in  to bounce back quickly tomorrow, Friday, April 22, as they conclude their four-game homestand against Region 15 opponent Nassau Community College at 4 p.m. from Padavan-Preller Complex. For more information, please visit the BMCC Baseball Schedule Page.
