New York, New York – The BMCC women's volleyball team fell in an exciting back-and-forth duel on Thursday night in five sets, 23-25,25-14,25-21,9-25,8-15 in Region 15 action at BMCC Gymnasium. Fashion Institute of Technology improves to 5-9 (5-4 Region XV), while the Panther's second straight loss drops their record to 9-4 (9-2 Region XV).
Sophomore Josanne Lewis (Rochester, Minnesota) paced the Panther's offensive attack with her team-leading ninth double-double with a game-high 20 kills and 18 digs to go along with a team-high three service aces. Freshman Emmanuella Aurel (New York, New York) registered her second double of the season, dishing out a career and team-high 23 assists while corralling 20 digs.
Underclassman Albina Rugova (New York, New York) chipped in on offense with four kills, and Aurel had three in the match.
Freshman Sarah Lee (Staten Island, New York) held it down for the Panthers on the backline handling a career and team-high 27 digs, while classmates Amy Criollo (Queens, New York) and Cheyenne Gray-Taitt (Harlem, New York) both had a solo block apiece.
Madison Nguyen led the way for the Fashion Institute Of Technology, posting a double-double with a team-high 10 kills to go along with 10 digs. Maya Burke and Laura Hansroul contributed to the offensive effort with eight and seven kills, while Cassidy Stone handed out a game-high 26 assists. Kristina Kwitzer led the Tigers on defense with 34 digs, and Chelsey Ruiz put up a game-high three blocks, two of them solo, also a game-best.
