Brooklyn, New York – The BMCC men's basketball team was edged by CUNYAC opponent Kingsborough Community College 67-60 on Saturday afternoon in Brooklyn, New York. The loss drops the Panthers to 1-7 while the Wave pick up their first win of the season, improving to 1-9.
Both halves were tightly contested as the Panthers trailed at halftime 31-28 and were outscored 36-32 in the second half to give Kingsborough Community College a hard-earned first win on the season.
Jeremiah Cardi (New York, New York) came off the bench to lead all scorers with 19 points for his team-leading eighth double-figure scoring performance while knocking down a team-best three three-pointers. Cardi also distributed a team-best three assists in the game. Emmanuel Adenekan (Bronx, New York) put up his first career double-double registering a team-high 11 rebounds and scoring 12 points while also swatting a game-high four shots in the contest.
Kingsborough Community College had four players finish the afternoon in double-figures, with Jason Whea leading the way with team-high 16 points and missing a double-double by one board with nine. Whea also gave out a game-high five assists. Tyrese Grant dropped 15 points in the game, while Neilon Bridgeman and Mikkomel Legaspi contributed 13 and 12 points. Bridgeman also recorded a team-high three blocks on the afternoon.
The Panthers are back in action on Tuesday, January 18 at 7 p.m. in New Rochelle against Region 15 opponent Monroe-Bronx.
