Highlights: WBB vs. Queensborough
New York, New York |Â The BMCC women's basketball team used a decisive 18-1Â run throughout the entire second quarter to pull away from CUNYAC Opponent Queensborough Community College, 46-28, on Tuesday evening at BMCC Gymnasium. The Panthers snapped an 8-game losing skid to improve to 4-13 (4-4 CUNYAC) on the season, while the Tigers fall to 2-19 (2-6 CUNYAC) with the loss.Â
Three BMCC starters scored in double-figures, with sophomore Autum Adams-Edwards (Brooklyn, New York) leading the way with a game-high 17 points. Adams-Edwards also dished out a game-best four assists and grabbed three steals on the evening. Freshman Shyasia Preston (Far Rockaway, New York) posted her second double-double of the season, hauling down 13 rebounds and scoring 12 points. Fellow upperclassmen Blossom Berruecos (Flushing, NY) chipped in with 10 points, seven of them in the second quarter, and second-year forward Lauren Malcolm (Bronx, New York) brought down a game-high 19 rebounds and snagged a team-high five steals.
The Panthers shot 30.3-percent from the field as a team (20-for-66) and held Queensborough to just a 20-percent clip (10-for-50). BMCC also out-rebounded the Tigers, 48-30, on the night.
After falling behind 8-2 over the opening four minutes, BMCC finished the rest of the first quarter on a 6-0 run and held Queensborough scoreless for the final six minutes to end up tied at 8. The Panthers stifled the Tigers shooting efforts in the second quarter as they held them to just one field goal on 8.3-percent shooting from the field (1-for-12) while allowing only three points and adding 18 of their own to take a 26-11 lead into the halftime break.
The Panthers lead reached a game-high of points at 5:58 of the third quarter and never got below eleven in the fourth quarter as they cruised en route to a 46-28 victory.Â
For Queensborough Community College, freshman Diane Biterski led the way with 11 points and snatched a team-high seven steals. Classmate Bianca Briere hauled down a team-best eight rebounds and scored seven points, while her fellow underclassman Brooke Beards and Jordan Grier both led the team in assists and blocks with three and two, respectively.

- Autum Adams-Edwards (Brooklyn, New York) has scored a team-leading nine times in double-figures and has done it in back-to-back contests. Blossom Berruecos (Flushing, NY) recorded her fourth double-digit scoring output on the year, while Shyasia Preston (Far Rockaway, New York) posted her second.Â
- Lauren Malcolm (Bronx, New York) leads the team with eleven double-digit rebounding efforts on the season, while Preston is second on the team with seven double-digit rebounding efforts on the year.
