New York, New York | Nassau Community College defeated the BMCC women's soccer team, 10-0, on Thursday afternoon in Garden City, New York. With the loss, the Panthers fall to 0-1 (0-1 Region XV) on the season, while the Lions improved to 5-3 (2-0 Region XV).
After both teams were scoreless over the first 15 minutes of action, The Lions opened the scoring on the first of four goals by sophomore Shonagh Cleary in the 17th minute. Freshman Nicole Alfonsi picked the assist on the marker.
After holding a one-goal lead over the next 24 minutes, Nassau Community College would add three goals in the final four minutes- two more from Cleary (41st and 45th Minute) and another from freshman Erika Lilli (43rd minute) to lead 4-0 at halftime. Sophomore Hannah Woodward had all three assists on the tallies.
The Lions picked off where they left off with Cleary notching her fourth of the game in the 48th minute, and freshman Kelly Fogarty twinkled the twine in the 53rd minute to make it 6-0. Cleary would add a fifth in the 70th minute, followed by the second from Lilli (75th Minute) and Woodward's tally in the 81st minute. Freshman Amirah Campbell rounded out the scoring on the afternoon in the 88th minute.
