The BMCC men's soccer team was upended by CUNYAC opponent Queensborough Community College, 2-1, at home Tuesday night in a rematch of the 2018 CUNYAC Championship Match. The Panthers fall to 2-1-1 (1-1 CUNYAC) on the season in defeat, while the Tigers improve to 2-3 (1-0 CUNYAC).

Queensborough wasted little time getting on the board, as sophomore Luis Flores took a pass down low, and lobbed a shot over sophomore goalie #1 just two minutes into the action. Freshman forward Djiby Diallo (New York, New York) looked to respond a minute after, but his shot was turned away by sophomore keeper Brayan Manzano, who finished the first half with four saves.

Freshmen forward Boubacar Sarr (Kayes, Mali) and midfielder Seydou Diallo (Brooklyn, New York) were also turned away on opportunities in the 20th minute and 41st minute to even the score. The Tigers outshot the Panthers 11-7 in the first half and took a 1-0 advantage into the halftime break.

BMCC applied the pressure in the second half, outshooting Queensborough, 11-3. The Panthers finally got the equalizer in the 57th minute when Diallo converted off a beautiful cross by freshman forward Elhadji Ady Gaye (Dakar, Senegal).

The Tigers retook the lead shortly after in the 60th minute, when sophomore Boris Miranda bent a beautiful 20-yard free-kick into the bottom left pocket of the net to put the visitors ahead 2-1. BMCC spent the rest of the time trying to find the equalizer, but were unable to- thanks in large part to Manzano who turned away a final opportunity by freshman forward Mor talla Ndiaye (New York, New York) in the 89th minute to preserve the victory.

Alvarez finished with four saves, while Manzano turned aside nine BMCC shots.

The Panthers will look to bounce back at home in two days on Thursday, Sept. 17, against Regional opponent Orange County Community College. Opening kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Pier 40. More information on the game will be available on the BMCC Men's Soccer Schedule Page.
