Men's Soccer Rallies For Three Unanswered Goals In A Thrilling Road Victory Over Bronx Community College

Bronx, New York |  The BMCC men's soccer team recorded three consecutive goals in the final 10 minutes, the game-winner coming in the 89th minute from freshman forward Elhadji Ady Gaye (Dakar, Senegal), in a 4-3 comeback victory against CUNYAC opponent Bronx Community College on Thursday afternoon at Ohio Field. The Panthers move to 1-0-1 (1-0 CUNYAC) on the season while the Broncos fall to 1-2 (0-1 CUNYAC).

The Bronx found the back of the net early in the first half on a goal by freshman Muhammad Bajo in the 2nd minute. Sophomore Shaibu Musah picked up the assist on the tally.

The Broncos doubled their lead in the 12th minute when freshman Ruddy Segura took a feed from classmate Baba Anne and fired it past sophomore keeper Miguel Alvarez (Queens, New York). Despite outshooting the Bronx 4-3 in the opening half, BMCC still trailed 2-0 going into the halftime break.

Michael Konadu (Kwahu, Ghana) finally got the Panthers on the board in the 60th minute after receiving an excellent feed from classmate Kevin Auquilla (Brooklyn, New York) to cut the Bronco lead to 2-1. A minute later, the Bronx went back up by two on an unassisted tally by Baba before Konadu notched his second of the game in the 80th minute to get it back down to a one.

The Panthers leveled the game in the 86th minute via freshman forward Jhon Calderon (Brooklyn, New York), on a pass from freshman Djiby Diallo (New York, New York). Diallo fired a team-high 14 shots on the afternoon.

Despite being destined for overtime, Ady Gaye buried it in the back of the cage in the game's final seconds, propelling BMCC to a 4-3 come from behind victory.

Alvarez made four stops for his first victory of the season. Bronx Community College keeper Vsevelod Orlov made nine saves in a match that saw his side outshot 32-10, including 28-7 in the final half.

Up next, BMCC travels to Bergen Community College this Saturday, September 14th. The opening whistle is slated for 1 p.m. For more information on the matchup visit the BMCC Men's Soccer Schedule Page.
