New York, New York |Â The BMCC Men's basketball team cruised over Schenectady County Community College, 70-53, on Saturday afternoon at BMCC Gymnasium. The Panther's third straight victory improves their record to 6-5, while the Knights drop to 0-12.Â
The Panthers had three or more players in double-figures for the second consecutive contest, with freshman forward Malik Bentinck (Queens, New York) leading the pack with his eighth-straight and a team-leading tenth double-double of the season with a team-high 21 points and 11 rebounds.Â
Sophomore Terrance McBride (Brooklyn, New York) drained 18 points and snatched a team-best six steals, while classmate Shakeem Reid (Brooklyn, New York) contributed 13 points on the afternoon to go along with four assists, tying a team-high. Freshman Elvys Ceballos (New York City, New York) chipped in with 10 points in the contest. Classmate William Brown (Brooklyn, New York) swatted a team-best two shots and tied a team-high with four assists.
The Panthers dominated the scoring down low, outscoring the Knights 36-24 in the paint. BMCC made Schenectady County Community College pay for its 23 turnovers, turning them into 40 points to the Knights' seven off of the Panthers' nine turnovers. Â
After Schenectady got the BMCC lead down to one, 6-5 at 15:18, and then to two, 9-7 at 14:39, the Panthers would take the game over from there outscoring the Knights 34-6 over the next ten minutes to extend their lead to 30, the largest of the afternoon, 43-13 at 4:37. Schenectady went on a 7-2 run for the remainder of the half to cut the deficit down to 45-22 going into halftime.
The Knights roared out of the gates with a 15-4 run to begin the second half to get the deficit down to 49-37 on a three at 13:42. BMCC countered with a 9-0 run to bring their advantage back up to 20 points, 58-37, on a McBridge layup off his steal at 11:45. The Panther 20 point mark never dropped below the rest of the night en route to a 70-53 victory.
Schenectady County Community College had three players in double-figures, as sophomore forward Alijah Gibbs led all scorers with 15 points to go along with seven rebounds. Freshman Dequan Lewis knocked down 12 points, and sophomore Chris Miller chipped in with 11 of his own. Freshmen Ryan Holland and Angel Reyes finished the afternoon tops on the team in rebounds and steals with nine and two, respectively, while sophomore Delphin Flowers dished out a team-high four assists.Â

- Terrance McBride (Brooklyn, New York) has scored in double figures in all eleven contests this season, while Malik Bentinck (Queens, New York) is tied second on the team with ten double-figure games, including eight straight in the past nine contests. Shakeem Reid (Brooklyn, New York) has recorded double-figures in two straight contests and has ten double-figure games, also tied for second. Elvys Ceballos (New York City, New York) has finished in double figures in two consecutive games and is third on the team with nine.
- Malik Bentinck (Queens, New York) racked up his sixth consecutive double-double and his team-leading eighth in eleven games this season.
- Bentinck has recorded back-to-back 20-point games and is now tops on the team with six 20-point games on the season.
