Terrance McBride Dominates In 90-63 Road Win At Kingsborough On Wednesday

Brooklyn, New York | The BMCC men's basketball team used a dominant effort from sophomore Terrance McBride (Brooklyn, New York) to cruise past CUNY opponent Kingsborough, 90-63, on the road Wednesday evening in Brooklyn, N.Y. The victory improves the Panthers to 1-1 on the year, while the Wave falls to 0-3 with the loss. 

McBride led all scorers with a season-high 31 points, while also snatching a team-best five steals to go along with five boards and four assists. The sophomore also shot 14-for-21 on the night.

Freshman Malik Bentinck (Queens, New York) recorded his first double-double of the season, bringing down a team-high ten boards to go along with a season-high 19 points, while classmate Shakeem Reid (Brooklyn, New York) chipped in with a season-best 18 points and six rebounds in the contest.

The Panthers shot a season-high 52.8% (38-for-72) from the field and raced out to a 40-31 lead at halftime. The second half would be more of the same as BMCC outscored the hosts 50-32 overall en route to a 90-63 victory.

Kingsborough Community College had three players score in double-figures, with freshman Joseph Cohen leading the way with 13 points, while Joelle Hodge recorded a double-double on the night, hauling down a team-high 11 rebounds and scoring ten points. John McGouran also chipped in with 12 points for the wave.

Notables: 

  • BMCC has won four straight contests against Kingsborough Community College dating back to January 2017.
  • Terrance McBride (Brooklyn, New York) scored at least 30 points for the first time this season, making it the first 30-point game for BMCC this year.
  • McBride scored at least 25 points for the second consecutive time this season and for the second time in his career. 
  • McBride and freshmen Malik Bentinck (Queens, New York) and Shakeem Reid (Brooklyn, New York) have both scored in double figures in back-to-back contests.
