New York, NY | The women's soccer team looked to right the ship following a couple of tough losses when they matched up against the Dutchess Falcons on Thursday evening. The Lady Panthers seemingly had an answer for each goal the Falcons scored, but in the end would fall just short in a 4-3 defeat.
Dutchess opened the scoring with a goal in the 8
th minute of the first half, BMCC quickly responded with a goal from sophomore
Ericka Ovillo coming from an assist by
Cindy Daza. The Falcons defender scored from long range to bring the match to 2-1, this score line would last for all of three minutes until Ovillo recorded her second goal this time off of an assist from Stacy Gauman. Dutchess would score once more in the half and the Lady Panthers would enter halftime facing a 3-2 deficit. The Falcons netted their final goal of the match in the 56
th minute before the Lady Panthers defense held firm for the remainder of regulation as goalkeeper
Florjeta Lubani finished the match with 10 saves. In the closing minutes
Karla Garcia made a move on the Falcons defense and found Gauman in front of the net who capitalized with a shot that ended up in the back of the net. But it would not be enough as the Falcons were able to escape Pier 40 with a win.
The Lady Panthers will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Paramus, NJ to take on the Bergen Bulldogs. Kickoff is set for 12pm.
