New York, NY | The Panthers soccer team played host to the Rockland Hawks at Pier 40 on Saturday afternoon. A huge second half from the BMCC offense pushed the team to a 6-1 final score as the Panthers recorded their fifth consecutive win.
BMCC looked on track to come away with another decisive victory at the 10 minute mark when
Brando Guzman linked up with
Jahvaughnie Johnson on a through pass to score the first goal of the game. Freshman
Souleymane Bah netted his first career goal with BMCC at the 31 minute mark in the first half to give the Panthers a two goal lead, but a late score from the Hawks would narrow the deficit to 2-1. With 17 shots coming in the first half, BMCC appeared to be a little disappointed entering the second half with a one goal advantage.
Despite scoring just seconds before halftime, Rockland had their momentum erased when
Aboubacar Keita netted a pair of goals in the 48
th and 56
th minutes coming off of assists from
Brando Guzman and
Brian Ampaw. The Panthers continued to widen the scoring margin with a goal by
Mohamed Diakhate that was ripped into the back of the net from outside the box.
Lucas Musse closed out the game by making a move to draw the Hawks goalkeeper out of the box, allowing him to score on an empty net.
