Panthers Finish Regular Season with Loss to Nassau

Garden City, NY | The BMCC Panthers entered Wednesday's showdown against Nassau clinging to a slim chance of earning a postseason berth, in order to qualify for the Region 15 tournament they would need a win against the Lions in addition to a Queensborough win over the Bronx. In the end it would be the Lions coming away with a doubleheader sweep to eliminate BMCC from playoff contention and end the Panthers season.

The Panthers struggled offensively during the doubleheader against the second ranked team in the region, in two games the team combined for 5-32(.156) at the plate. While the Nassau pitching staff kept the Panthers in check with 2 runs allowed in two games, the BMCC pitchers struggled, allowing a combined 31 runs (17 earned) and 26 hits in the doubleheader.

With the loss, the Panthers will finish with a 4-27-1 record (3-9 CUNYAC) to match their win total from the 2014 season. Despite the outcome, the Panthers showed flashes of what their capable of this season, including a pair of wins over their CUNYAC rival the Bronx Broncos and a 9-9 stalemate (game called due to darkness) with the reigning regional champion Suffolk Sharks. First year Head Coach Jonathan Ramos is optimistic about the future of the program as he enters into his first full offseason of recruiting, the team will look to keep a core group of freshman and bolster the roster with incoming players during the summer.
