Brooklyn, NY | The BMCC women's basketball team opened the 2017-18 season on the road against the Kingsborough Wave in a CUNY Athletic Conference game. Fueled by a 23 point performance from sophomore
Karina Ortega and staunch defense led by Jessyca Myers the Lady Panthers claimed a 73-28 victory over the Wave.
In a dominant outing from the Lady Panthers small forward, Ortega connected on 5 of 8 three pointers and shot a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line on her way to 23 points. Myers poured in 12 more points and 5 offensive rebounds, while helping limit scoring opportunities for Kingsborough with a team-high 4 steals. Sophomore
Jehosheba Foster neared a double-double with 10 points and 8 rebounds, and
Maryam Toure filled up the stat sheet with 7 points, 16 rebounds and 3 steals.
The Lady Panthers will be back in action on Saturday when they take on the Sullivan County Generals in BMCC Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 12 pm.
