New York, NY | BMCC gymnasium was the site for a showdown between a pair of explosive offenses from Region XV, both the Panthers and Rockland Hawks entered the night averaging 90 points per game while shooting above 45% from the field. But it would be all Panthers on Tuesday, fueled by 27 points from freshman shooting guard
Devin Berrios, BMCC routed the Hawks by a final score of 105-81.
It did not take long for Berrios to get in the scoring column in his first career start for the Panthers, minutes into the game he sunk his first of 8 three pointers on the night to stop the Hawks from jumping out to an early lead. As the Panthers shooting guard continued to sink shots on his way to 24 points before halftime, his freshman teammate
Viktor Kovacevic flirted with a first half double-double in scoring [9] and rebounds [8]. In the second half the Hawks still did not have an answer for the forward from Belgrade, Serbia, as Kovacevic went off for a team-high in nearly every statistical category with 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 blocks in the game. The reigning (2x) CUNYAC rookie of the week
Quran Dublin continued to make the most of his scoring opportunities, pouring in 19 points on just 10 attempts from the field. Once again
Lawrence Todman provided a spark off of the bench with 10 points and 8 rebounds to help BMCC seal the victory.
A total of seven players finished with 5 or more points in another outstanding shooting night from the Panthers. BMCC connected on over 50% of their shots from the field, while limiting the Hawks to a season-low shooting percentage [36%] in perhaps their best defensive performance of the season.
BMCC will look to carry over the momentum from the win into Thursday's game against the Passaic County Panthers. The teams are set to tip off in Paterson, NJ at 7:30 pm following the women's basketball game.
