New York, NY | With only 2 starters returning from the 2015 season, head coach
Odaly Aponte-Orta and the Lady Panthers needed to put in an extraordinary effort during the offseason to prepare for the new campaign. Coming off of a few preseason tuneup matches, the BMCC volleyball team was in midseason form on Thursday night when they took on the Union County Owls. After a brief stumble in the second set, the Lady Panthers dominated the final two sets (25-15, 25-15) to win the match 3-1.
The Panthers will be led this season by reigning CUNY Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year
Kayshawna Richardson. Now in her sophomore season, Richardson picked up right where she left off, setting the tone on offense with 9 kills. A pair of freshmen made their presence felt on the court with
Yulia Kuzmina recording 25 assists and
Stela Vaso leading the team with 15 kills.
The Lady Panthers will be back in action this Saturday when they take on the Bronx and FIT in a tri-match beginning at 12pm.
